A tribute to Nigel Vaulkhard

It is with a very heavy heart that we have to say goodbye to a very dear friend. Nigel Vaulkhard lost his fight for life on Thursday 1st May having been involved in a mountain bike accident whilst out with his two sons Harry and Ollie.

Nigel started racing back in the late 80's, early 90's with Classic Saloon Car Club in his A35. He then contested the Toca Package Historic ICS series in his much campaigned Lotus Cortina which he dearly loved. He then ran another Cortina in the mid-late 90's in Classic Saloon Car Club alongside Les Nash, Roger Stanford, Rick Tanton and Kevin Mansell.

Nigel tried his hand in the Porsche Carrera Cup Championship in 2002 having some great results for a rookie!

2003 - 2007 saw Nigel competing in Europe with myself as a co-driver where we finished runners up in the 2004 FIA Championship in the Mustang or the (Mussy) as Nigel called it!

Nigel ran the Mustang successfully in HSCC and the Dutch Championships before selling it in 2010. Nigel also was a regular competitor in Paul Rose's Fun Cup Championship.

He later moved on with his son Harry who competed in BTCC and WTCC where Nigel was the founder of Bamboo Engineering who successfully won the WTCC Privateer Championship.

He will be greatly missed for his sense of humour and sheer zest for life. It has been a great honour to be associated with Nigel over the years. Never has a more honest, straight talking proper bloke walked through a race car paddock.
